Early Childhood Curriculum

We provide an encouraging, rewarding introduction to classroom education in a Christian environment for students who are 3 to 4 years-old in our Preschool 3 and Prekindergarten 4 Program. Elementary Curriculum

Cross Lutheran School offers those subjects commonly taught in elementary school. The course of study meets all educational requirements of the State of Texas and the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Graduates are admitted to the public high schools of the area on the same basis as those from public schools. It is the policy of the school to cooperate with the public authorities in all matters that concern the welfare of the students and community.

In keeping with the philosophy, goals and objectives of the school, the curriculum reflects the needs and interests of the whole child, including the spiritual, academic, social, emotional and physical. Religious instruction is part of the daily routine, but more importantly, the identity of self as a child of God as he/she lives out his/her life and purposes for the future, serves as the foundation of the curriculum at Cross  Lutheran. Every child does take part in weekly chapel services, daily devotions, and other religious learning experiences. The Christian faith also becomes integrated throughout the curriculum through the planned instruction of the classroom teacher.  Our distinctively Lutheran approach to Christian education is evident in our daily routines.

A sound basic education is sought with emphasis in reading, writing and mathematics. It is our conviction that these basic tools are most important in preparing for higher education.  Individualized instruction is used in various areas of instruction with a constant effort being made to satisfy the individual's needs as they exist.

In our middle school, grades 5-8, departmental teaching is utilized in areas where individual members of the faculty are most suited according to gifts, abilities and interests. Elective classes may also be offered two or three days per week to students in our middle school.  Elective courses are at least one academic quarter in length.

Hello! My name is Courtney Mann and I have been part of the Cross family for 16 years, when my oldest child, Mason, started attending school here in Kindergarten. A couple of years later his little sister, Maddie, would join him in the hallways of a building that very quickly became home. God had a great surprise for me when I was blessed to join this amazing ministry team 10 years ago in the best role there could be, the Director of Enrollment. Director of Admissions and Advancement

I am Michelle Rivera, the Director of Curriculum and Student Support Services. I am married to Matthew, and we are the proud parents of three wonderful girls. Our youngest daughters attend Cross Lutheran Church and School. We enjoy outdoor activities, travel, reading, family game night and watching sports. We are active members at St. Paul Lutheran Church here in New Braunfels and love both of our Lutheran church families! I have worked in education for over 20 years in the classroom and administration in early childhood and school settings. I have also taught classes at the community college level. I consider myself a lifelong learner and will always be a student at heart! I have an AAS in Child Development, BS in Interdisciplinary Studies, Master of Education in Teacher Leadership and am currently pursuing my PhD in Education, Leadership and Organization at Texas Woman’s University. My research interests focus on the effectiveness of teachers in their initial years of teaching and the educational outcomes of all students in classrooms that integrate children of all abilities. We moved to New Braunfels in June 2022 to live closer to family, and we feel very blessed to have found Cross. I have my Master's degree in School Counseling from Azusa Pacific University and I am certified as a School Counselor through the state of Texas. I have over 10 years of experience in the field of education and over 6 years of experience in the counseling field. My husband Chad and I have two beautiful daughters, Cailin, who is 22 and is starting her senior year at TCU this year and Kylie who is 11 and is in the 6th grade here at Cross Lutheran. This is Kylie's 5th year at Cross. Our family fell in love with Cross, so I jumped at the chance to work here when it was presented to me two years ago. Our family lives on the Krause farm and we love raising our many animals. In my free time my family and I love to travel. We spend some time over the summer and holidays in Utah. We love to ski!!! We enjoying hunting and fishing together and you usually can find us at TCU football games when we have free weekends. Teaching is very special to me. My Name is Jennifer Meyer-Aguilar, my family and I have been part of Cross Lutheran School for the last 2 school years. Over the last 19 years, I have taught in Early childhood education, Sunday School, VBS, Awanas, Volunteering, as well as a Substitute Teacher. I am married to my soul mate Nick Aguilar (we even share the same Birthday!) We are the Proud parents to 5 wonderful people, Mariah (22), Chase (18), Parker (13), Addison (9), and Scarlett Rose (6). We have 7 pets which include 6 hermit crabs, and 1 indoor Holland Lop Rabbit named Bunnz. My favorite Bible verses are Jeremiah 29:11 and 1 Corinthians 15:33. Anyone who knows me well would tell you that I thrive around people and gravitate to the little ones. My name is Emmy Rivera Duhon. ​I am so excited to start my 3rd year at Cross Lutheran School​ in the Pre-K 4 class. I have been married to my husband Ed for 29 years, Ed and I have raised two wonderful sons, Cole 23, recently graduated from Texas Lutheran University in May and just had his first day in the classroom as the Assiting Band Director at League City Middle School, and Cameron, 19 attending Austin Community College. We have one pet, a dachshund call Buster. I have dedicated the last 23 years to raising our sons. I have worked in the after school program at Comal ISD, I have spent A LOT of time volunteering with the Canyon High School Band, and i have also volunteered for multiple local nonprofits​. Mrs. Dirba grew up in New Braunfels and comes from several generations of teachers. After graduating from NBHS, Mrs. Dirba attended Blinn College on a dance team scholarship, and later graduated from Texas A&M University (whoop!). This is Mrs. Dirba’s ninth year teaching, and her second year teaching at Cross. Of all the grades she’s taught, kindergarten is her favorite, so she’s very excited to be back in it this year! Mrs. Dirba considers it her responsibility as a kindergarten teacher to help children fall in love with school, books, and learning, in order to set them up with security and success for the rest of their educational careers. Mrs. Dirba and her husband, John, have two daughters. Ellie is going into second grade, and Kenna is starting in PK-3. Mrs. Dirba is thrilled that she and her girls will all be at the same school this year! The Dirbas also have two dogs: Yeti, a Great Pyrenees, and Meeka, a husky. Hi there! My name is Madi Tran and I’m an NB native! I’ve been in the education system in some shape or form for 10 years now, with this being my first year teaching Second Grade. I’m so excited to be joining the Cross Lutheran Family! I graduated from Texas Lutheran University in 2018 with my Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology and temporarily moved to San Antonio to teach dance. I have been the Third Grade teacher at Cross for 14 years. All 4 of my adult children attended and graduated from Cross Lutheran School and are now part of their proud alumni. I have been teaching full-time for 24 years in public as well as Lutheran schools. Ten of those years were in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area after graduating from Concordia College University in Austin. My husband, Greg, and I have been blessed with four children: Jacob, married to Ali; Miriam, married to Bobby Courtney; James, married to Kate; and Matthew. Being a grandma to Wayne, Boone, Beau, Morgan (Jacob and Ali), and Lennie and Maddox (James and Kate) has been my greatest joy. I have a passion for connecting the past to the present and creating a pioneer spirit in my students as we discover and grow academically, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. I grew up as an MN Vikings fan in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. I enjoyed my time learning and growing at Zion Lutheran School from Kindergarten to 8th grade where I decided to become a Lutheran educator. Education was always a plan since my grandma was a 1st grade teacher in the public school system and would always pass down her old grade books and textbooks. But it was the teachers and Pastors at Zion Lutheran that put the joy of Lutheran education in my heart! I graduated from Concordia University, St. Paul, MN in 1998. I received my first call to Christ Lutheran School in Murray, UT. In Utah, I started as the 6th grade teacher, but throughout my 18 years in UT, I taught grades 6-8, the Athletic Director, Early Childhood Director, and Principal. Utah holds many great memories: I married Jeff in 2002. Jacob was born in 2006 and Carson in 2012. I received my Master of Education, emphasis in Science from Concordia University - Portland, OR in 2014. I received the Call to serve at Cross Lutheran Church and School in 2016. I love hands-on science and making science "fun" in the classroom. I love those moments when students want to come and just "hang out" in the classroom or just come back to say "hi". I'm Katti Henderson and I will be teaching Religion and providing enrichment and academic support this year. Teaching is more than a job to me, it is truly the ministry calling of my heart. I am thrilled to be a part of the Cross Lutheran teaching staff. I have vast experience teaching in both upper elementary and middle school. As a proud Aggie, I graduated with honors from Texas A&M University with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have three awesome kiddos who are also proud Cross Eagles.
